![]() It having been so long since I last made urban documentary photographs in the city, I was rusty and didn’t make anywhere near as many usable photographs as I normally would. The Fujinon XF 50mm f/2.0 R WR’s shorter focal length, conversely, is just about short enough when stopped down to my usual apertures of f/8.0 or f/5.6 to render sharp enough detail behind the image’s main subject matter while not drawing undue attention to secondary objects. I felt I needed to keep more distance from others than usual so chose a 40mm-equivalent ‘perfect normal’ Fujinon XF 27mm f2.8 R WR pancake prime lens instead of something wider. In contrast to my usual days out in the city pre-pandemic, I made these photographs on a short, fast walk, from the SMPTE MetExpo trade show at Darling Harbour to Town Hall Station in the Queen Victoria Building.
